A 26-year-old man, Derick Oziegbe, has been remanded in an Ikeja
police station after pleading not guilty to the allegations against him.
Oziegebe had allegedly stolen a Toyota Corolla 2003 model on Sept.
22, 2012 around the First Gate area in Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos. The car,
valued at N1.2m, belonged to one Abu Ehiabhi.
The charge sheet read at an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday,
stated, “You Derick Oziegbe, in an Ikeja Magistrate District did steal a
Toyota Corolla saloon car valued N1, 200,000 and thereby committed an
offence punishable under section 285 (10) of Criminal Laws of Lagos
State of Nigeria 2011.”
While giving the judgement, Magistrate Taiwo Akanni demanded that
Oziegbe should be detained in police custody until the adjourned date of
Nov. 13, 2012, for further hearing.
