Five
men have been arraigned before an Oshodi Magistrate’s Court, Lagos
State, for allegedly vandalising three Toyota Hiace Buses belonging to
the government.
The men were said to have broken the front door glasses and stolen the vehicles brain boxes which totalling N680,000.
The charge sheet reads in part, “That
you, Victor Bassey, Basssey Akobai, Idris Umar, Robert Olatunji, Adams
Akodu with others at large on May 17, 2013 at No 34/36 Association
Avenue, Ilupeju in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire among
yourselves to commit felony to wit; stealing and malicious damage and
thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 410 of the
Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011”
The men pleaded not guilty to the three counts preferred against them.
The five defendants could not present a counsel, but the prosecutor did not object to a bail.
The Magistrate, Mr. Akeem Fashola,
granted the accused bail upon the payment of N100,000 each, with a
surety each in like sum who must also show evidence of tax payment for
three years.
The case was adjourned till June 13.
