The police on Wednesday arraigned a 32-year-old man,
Ugah John, before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly
driving without a licence.
The police said it was discovered that the accused
was driving without a licence after he rammed into a Land Rover vehicle
parked along Oniru New Market Road on October 1.
He was charged with three counts bordering on driving without a licence, reckless and dangerous driving.
Police Prosecutor, Gbemileke Agoi, said the offences were contrary to sections 26 and 19 of the Lagos Traffic Law 2012.
The charge sheet stated, “That you Ugah John within
the Lagos Magisterial District did drive a Toyota Saloon without a
driving licence and in a dangerous manner, causing damage to a Land
Rover vehicle belonging to Ajibade Ganiyu.”
When his plea was taken, he pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Magistrate A.A. Famobiwo admitted him to bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must furnish the court with
verifiable residential and official addresses and subsequently adjourned
the case till October 25 for further hearing.
