Health Sector Union, JOHESU yesterday called of its nationwide strike
following the order of Industrial Court to suspend the action pending
the determination of the case before it.

Acting National Chairman of JOHESU, Comrade Felix Faniran in an
interview with vanguard said the suspension was to allow speedy hearing
of the case brought by the Federal government before the industrial
court, stressing that court had promised accelerated hearing of the case
within 3 months.
It would be recalled that the health workers on Tuesday, September 19
closed down some medical facilities across the country as they began
an indefinite nationwide strike to protest the non-payment of
Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) to the medical and health
workers.
Series of meetings have been held between the union’s leadersship and
government representatives to resolve the impasse but have not been
able to reach a compromise
Meanwhile, the workers are calling for the removal of The Minister of
health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu for allowing the crisis to degenerate
this far. To this end, the union is planning a match in Abuja to press
home their demand for the minister’s removal.
