UGHELLI—DELTA State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Hope Eghagha, has been released by his abductors.
Prof. Eghagha was abducted at Abavo, September 29, on his way from
Warri to attend the country’s 52nd Independence anniversary thanksgiving
service in Asaba, the state capital.
Vanguard gathered that he was dropped off at about 8pm on Monday
night at Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state..
A family source who spoke with Vanguard on condition of anonymity, said no ransom was paid.
He said the commissioner, who spent 16 days in the den of the kidnappers, came back unhurt.
Confirming his release, the State Police Public Relations Officer,
PPRO, Mr. Charles Muka, said the police was still investigating the
matter.
He, however, said no arrest had been made in connection with the
kidnap. Muka appealed to members of the public to assist the police with
useful information that could lead to the arrest of the kidnappers.
