Although such scenario is no longer new to people living in the slump and other urban areas of Anambra State, yet the residents of Okosu Street in Inland town were shocked waking one fateful morning to behold a gory sight of decomposing bodies of twin babies abandoned in a refuse dump.
Investigations revealed that the unfortunate babies were dumped by a woman suspected to be their mother.
The two boys who were trashed by their mother at about 3am yesterday
were already decomposing before onlookers could come to their rescue.
One of the woman sympathizers who seemed so emotionally affected by
the gory sight of the two innocent babies claimed that the mother of the
twins could have strangled them to aid easy disposal, out of poverty or
frustration but stressing that it is not enough reason to waste lives
in that manner.
In an emotional laden voice, she said: “We just came out this morning
only to behold this evil act and as a woman; I began to ask myself how a
fellow woman and mother could kill such innocent children and dump them
in a dustbin. It could be true that these innocent children were killed
by their mother because they were unwanted but God will deny whoever
that meted this type of cruelty on these innocent children, happiness
that fruit of the womb brings.”
She also said that the babies could have been strangled by their
mother and her accomplices. She noted that: “No man would allow his
blood that has reached this level of development to be wasted just like
that but I am not disputing the fact that their mother strangled them to
cover her wicked track but God will surely punish whoever that did
this.”
In a twinkle of an eye, the news spread like wild fire across the
neighboring streets. Clerics and other concerned Nigerian who came to
catch a glimpse of the wasted lives condemned the evil act and pleaded
God to grant the souls of the twins’ eternal rest.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Police Inland Town, Mr. E.
Evans, was yet to confirm the saddening incidence as at the time of
filing this report.
