The police in Ogun State have arrested a
suspected ritual killer, Jimoh Olorunwa, at a cemetery in Ago-Iwoye,
Ogun State, with a chunk of human flesh.
The police also arrested a suspected
cult member, Ahmed Oduyoye, in the same town and two suspected rapists
in Oke-Ola area of Imeko.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Okoye
Ikemefuna, said this while parading the suspects before journalists at
the state Command Headquarters, Eleweran, on Wednesday.
Ikemefuna said that the 34-year-old
suspected ritual killer was arrested at the Christians Cemetery in
Ago-Iwoye following a report by Chief Adekoya, the Chairman of the
Christian Committee of Ago-Iwoye.
The commissioner said, “Adekoya reported
at Ago-Iwoye Division that when he visited the cemetery on routine
check, he discovered that some graves had been broken and he suspected
foul play.
“On receipt of the information,
surveillance was mounted within the cemetery area, and this led to the
arrest of one of the ritual killers at the cemetery with human flesh.
The suspect confessed to the offence and mentioned one Abore of
Odosinusi area of Ago-Iwoye who is presently at large.”
He added that efforts were already being made by the police to arrest the other fleeing suspects.
Ikemefuna also said Oduyoye, the
22-year-old 400 level Computer Science student of the Olabisi Onabanjo
University, Ago-Iwoye, was arrested by police detectives after the
suspected cult member and one Bobby snatched a BlackBerry phone and beat
up their victim at a bar.
The police commissioner said when the house of the suspect was searched after his arrest, 146 copies of Vulture Magazine, a publication of the Eiye Confraternity displaying nude pictures of some female students were recovered.
Besides, it was learnt that a charm, a short cutlass and a torchlight were also recovered.
“The other gang members, Malo and Bobby, are at large. Efforts to arrest them are on top gear,” the CP said.
However, Oduyoye said he was forced to
join the cult group only two weeks ago when some members of the group
beat him up and dumped the magazines on him for safe keeping or risk
being killed.
The police boss further said two of the
suspects who allegedly raped a girl while she was hawking palm oil along
Secretariat Road, Imeko, had been arrested.
According to him, the suspects,
25-year-old Tosin Adebayo and Opeyemi Adebayo, 19, along with three
other accomplices forcibly dragged their victim to a corner after “she
was stopped by a boy under the pretext of patronising her” and raped
her.
The police also paraded a fake deputy
commissioner of police, Tunbosun Banjo, for impersonation at the
Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, as well as a suspected car
thief, Dayo Ogundeyi.
Ogundeyi was found in possession of a stolen Toyota Solara car with registration number FA 171 APP and some master keys.
During Ogundeyi’s arrest, his accomplice, Ayinde Akindele, was said to have escaped.
